Life wasn't so great when you didn't have much of a relationship with your parents or the ability to play street games while growing up in the fifties. Night Noises
by Lisa Beere
Sam is a young child who can't sleep, distracted by the many noises of the night.
Each family member attempts to help him. Eventually, his Nan discovers the issue and sister Junie comes to the rescue with a solution that reassures Sam of how much he is safe and loved.

This story will appeal to children who have concerns about being alone in the dark and those older ones that will be sleeping "away" for the first time. While written as a picture book, this text is also accessible as an early reader.

Throughout the ages, messiahs have come and gone, and all have fallen. After centuries of exile, Bantaka the Godslayer is active once more. The Seer manipulates the strands of Time and Space to bring together Pankea’s only hope: the most unlikely motley of misfits and cut-throats in the land, and a godling half-breed who’s bloodline heritage holds the key to saving—or dooming—all Existence. Destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy to “pierce the heart of her ancestor,” Marian Silverblade is hailed as the current messiah of her age. But prophecies often get misinterpreted. And Lord Calahan Darkblade—Marian’s ancestor and Bantaka’s Herald—has plans of his own....

The Silverblade Prophecy is the first book in The Messiahs War Trilogy. When destinies collide in a war unlike anything before seen on Pankea, the choices made by the most unlikely of heroes may determine the outcome.

Just a regular day at the mall, what could possibly happen?

When worlds collide, as those in Diaspora by Greg Egan and The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin, a new dystopia emerges in a far-off future. Andrometre is one such world where Gliese Libra, a Librarian of considerable power, is pulled into the final war between humanity and its oppressors. Along with Albert Hollows, a human and forerunner for the Insurgency, Gliese uncovers truths of her race; truths of their planet and their biology.

Follow Gliese’s story as she battles with herself and the oppressors, to overcome her conflicts of identity and guides humanity to salvation.

Nothing is ever as it seems.

Her Destiny Is Change
by Beth Cohen
A new wave of feminist utopian and dystopian stories are upon us. Beth Cohen’s imaginary world stakes out all the necessary grounds for why women are driven to recreate the world they might live in, and who the women need to become in order for such worlds to exist. Her cast of bold and memorable characters include the warrior, the healer, the negotiator, the lovers, and more -- those who create new ways of living and working to make a new society as it splits from the old. There can be no going back once women have found their destiny, and their “destinies are change.”

I wrote “Liberating Inner Eve” as a result of my encounters with female clients from a Christian background who struggle to find a sense of personal strength, high self-worth, love, and acceptance.

“Liberating Inner Eve” offers psychological insight around the impact of commonly found interpretations of the teachings of the Old Testament (in particular the Genesis account of Adam and Eve) and New Testament (the lifetime of Jesus), on various themes relevant to women’s daily lives, such as how they experience their identity, self-acceptance, and self-worth.

Every Chapter of this book includes simple exercises, encouraging readers to take time to review their thoughts and feelings, relating to a particular topic.

Through “Liberating Inner Eve” I long to share with others how empowering the Bible can be in helping women find self-love, self-acceptance, and personal strength.

As water quenches a runner’s thirst, God’s word refreshes your weary soul. Runners of all levels will be awakened to powerful parallels between running and the Christian life, equipped with scripture, encouraged to persevere, and inspired with determination. You’ll be challenged to plunge deeper in your walk with God.

Unbroken

Unbroken:One Woman's Journey to Rebuild a Life Shattered by Violence. A True Story of Survival and Hope

by Madeleine Black

Madeleine Black has experienced more in her life than most ever will, but few have walked away from such carnage with her quiet dignity.

She was gang raped when she was 13 years old and was consequently raped 3 more times before the age of 18. One might wonder how such things could happen but the reader will see how a slippery slope can be created from the horrible actions of just one night.

The events of that first rape were so traumatic; it took Madeleine many years and a lot of hard work to uncover the memories of that attack.  Could she believe such things? Would she make up such things? All the while, she was doing her best to carry out her “Best Revenge” plan: leading a good and happy life. But the road to living such a life was long and painful.

So how does one emerge from such depths? And can others do it as well? Madeleine tells her story in vivid, candid detail. Her words are simple and straight. Her story is accessible and relatable. That’s because her message is about how a person chooses to recover from adversity. It’s not about what knocks a person down; it’s how they get back up.

Forgiveness was the key for Madeleine. True forgiveness takes genuine effort. It takes a real desire to understand those who may have done us harm and caring enough about one’s self to take the necessary steps.  Madeleine shows us that it’s worth the effort. And really, if we’ve already suffered hardship, what do we have to lose?

Joe desperately cries out loud with no one around to overhear him praying for help. That tragic night brings about hearing poignant voices that start to play an integral part in his life. This event haunts Joe while growing up from a boy into manhood causing him to always search for answers to why.

Relatives, teachers and mentors in Joe’s life begin to replace the lost love and guidance needed by a young boy to become someone worthwhile. These special individuals in Joe’s circle of life are quickly recognized and admired and give him the strong footing he needs to survive. Demands are placed on his teenage life that would destroy most young adults, but Joe finds the strength to overcome the bad pathways by those same voices over Troubled Water.

Along Joe’s journey in life Troubled Water shows its massive mind power at far reaching locations as he travels around the world while serving in the US Navy and the Vietnam War. He finds that there are some Troubled Waters that are finally at peace and those that are not and never will be.

A long time family secret is exposed accidentally which intertwines most of his elder family members and their silence for many years. This family secret enabled Joe to discover most of his long lost answers to questions that were thought to never be solved. Each and every one of these amazing stories in this memoir are true and have been experienced by the author.

The Other Side of Philip K. Dick

“As a literary figure, Philip K. Dick is popularly perceived as a crazed, drug-addled mystic with a sinister Third Eye. Nothing could be further from the truth - the Phil I knew was a warm, humane, very funny man. Maer Wilson understands these truths far better than I, and The Other Side of Philip K. Dick casts a welcome shaft of daylight upon the real PKD, as opposed to the dark, distorted caricature Dick has become.” Paul M. Sammon, Author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner

What is the truth behind the legend of Science Fiction great, Philip K. Dick?

In spring, 1972, Phil Dick moved to Fullerton, CA, where he met Theatre student Mary (Maer) Wilson. Amid marriage proposals, marathon talk-fests and a love for music and films, they forged a strong friendship that would last the rest of his life.

Wilson’s quirky, yet unflinchingly honest, memoir reveals a funny, compassionate and generous man. She captures an inside view of one of our literary greats – a brilliant writer who gave the world some of its most revered Science Fiction.

“I found this book engrossing and authentic – a truthful and serious account of the last part of Phil Dick’s life by someone who was a fundamental part of it and who has the skill to write about it. There is evident love and friendship in this book, but also honesty. This was the Phil Dick I knew.” James P. Blaylock, World Fantasy Award-Winning Author
