Time To Rock

Time to Rock

By -  Peter J. Maida

This story is about Freddie MacArthur. He is the lead guitar player for the band Barracuda. It is September 1973, and the band has made it big. Their single, “She’s Got the Devil in Her,” has hit number one, and their album “Wrecking Ball,” is highly rated. With success comes problems and Barracuda had them in spades. They had two concerts left on the Wrecking Ball, tour when things began to come apart. It all exploded after the last concert, in Detroit, leaving Freddie rushing out town with a college student named Emily Hicks. While hurdling down the Edsel Ford Freeway they encounter a blue curtain of energy.
This is also a story of Emily Hicks. Emily is a sophomore at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in September of 1973. She’s a journalism-major with great ambition. Emily had just got on the school newspaper, and she was looking for a big story. She gets a tip that Barracuda was having problems and she is offered a way to be backstage at their Detroit concert. Emily pretends to be a groupie and she ends up getting a lot more than she expected. Emily records talk of covering up a serious crime then she is discovered. Freddie helps her escape, and they race down the freeway to the blue curtain.
Freddie’s 1973 Plymouth Barracuda rushes into the blue curtain, there is a blinding flash of light, and Freddie fights to keep control of the car. He pulls to the side of the road to catch his breath. They then proceed on Interstate 94 in the early morning hours of September 16, 2017. This is where the story starts. See what happens next and see how this event triggers the rebirth of rock and roll.
